Faction
Faction is the Drum & Bass production duo of Jarred Baigent and James Knuckey. Both of us have been producing for a few years now and at the end of 2005 we decided to collaborate. We both have a love for roots, it's a New Zealand thing.
Faction is about Drum & Bass, but the genre itself and dance music in general is about juxtaposition, a collision of styles and cultures. Faction is about the combination of old and new. Roots Dub as started by founding fathers such as King Tubby and Scratch Perry is the origin of the remix, the origin of studio produced dance music. Drum & Bass is all about the new, using the very latest studio technology. Combine the two and it's one hell of a sound.
A couple of months ago we got ourselves a production studio, and we're starting to write more music. Plans for the immediate future include more gigs, more tunes, and hopefully some signings to local and overseas labels. Watch this space...
