Wellington's Heaviest Drum and Bass Gig of the year!

It's been a long time Wellington, and we are very pleased to announce the return of heavy tech Drum and Bass to The Capital. We're stepping it up with 3 of the Freak Recordings crew's finest: AUDIO, ROBYN CHAOS & NANOTEK. It's the first time we've seen anything of this magnitude. Each of these distinguished artist's will rip it up hard with their unique heavy styles.

Supporting our three headlines we have Wellingtons finest - UKNW, Snax and Keel along with PVans, Sketchy B and Thief giving us our dose of Dubstep in the lounge for the night.

If you've been following the movements of the Freak Recordings crew for the past couple of years, AUDIO should need no introduction. As one of the foremost names in brutally heavy stepping Drum and Bass, it'll be a privilege to catch his inaugural NZ tour. In 2006, his first release on Freak Recordings dropped. Warehouse was highly anticipated and is still regarded by many as the tune that launched Audio into the upper echelon of heavy tech artists. His immediate response was The Designed For War EP on Freak Recs. The distinctive title track featuring The Panacea "Designed For War" hit hard in the Drum and Bass community and his tunes began to appear regularly sets ranging from Dylan & Tech Itch to Limewax & SPL. His recent LP on Tech Freak Recordings “To The Edge Of Reason” is astonishing and Audio has gained unstoppable momentum. He's also highly regarded as a DJ it will be an honour to witness this badman for the first time in Wellington.

We were fortunate enough to catch ROBYN CHAOS on her last visit to NZ in 2006 and she left us speechless. The first lady of dark Drum and Bass needs no introduction. Her name and face are synonymous with the Freak Recordings crew and the distinctive sound it represents. Alongside Dylan, Robyn Chaos has crafted a small empire whose army consists of, to name but a few: Audio, Limewax, Tech Itch, The Panacea, SPL, Current Value, Raiden and Kryptic Minds & Leon Switch. Behind the decks she sets a high standard and as a producer she demonstrates destructive ability. Her back catalogue includes "Possession" as Faith In Chaos featuring Dylan, "Salvation" appearing on Metalheadz, "The Suffering" featuring B-Key and "The Rapture" featuring Audio & Dylan. Robyn Chaos will grace Wellington with a slice of the finest Freak Recordings has to offer.

New Zealand's Nanotek is the foremost name in dark Drum and Bass in the country. His distinctive, brooding, malignant style has earned him the recognition of the local and international Drum and Bass communities in a short space of time. And having just returned from his inaugural Australasian tour alongside Lost Souls' SPL including acclaimed sets all over New Zealand, we're especially eager to hear what Nanotek's been up to in the studio recently. In 2007, Germany's Intransigent Recordings picked up Nanotek's “Nightwatch” and it wasn't long before he gained the recognition of Dylan & Freak Recordings with his first release for the crew, on sister label Obscene Recordings. “Deadly Force” and “Acid Burn” marked the beginning of Nanotek's foray into international Drum and Bass success and was emphatically supported by heavyweights such as Tech Itch, Current Value, SPL, Gein, Counterstrike & Limewax. On the horizon is Nanotek's first 12” on Freak Recordings, the highly anticipated “Never Say Die” & “Angels of Truth”, and on Tech Itch Recordings “Better Place”. In addition we can look forward to Nanotek on remixing duties of Current Value & Gein, and imminent collaborations with SPL, Gein & Counterstrike. This is a privileged opportunity to check Nanotek and witness the darkest Drum and Bass experience born and raised in New Zealand.
