Dance till you drop to the massive beat of Batucada Sound Machine and their infectious funk family of samba, hip-hop, salsa, afro-beat, dub, Pacific and Brazilian firepower, live at ERUPT Taupo Festival.

Loosely translated, ‘batucada’ means percussive samba jam. BSM took that as their musical roots, in the early days with five drummers jamming in a dimly lit lounge bar, before progressing to a 13 strong collective that includes a horn section, two guitars, bass, keyboard and local hip hop kingpin, MC Hazaduz on the mic.

Hot off the back of an acclaimed studio album Rhythm & Rhyme, and tours nationwide and overseas, the rising popularity and festive nature of BSM has resulted in the band making the bill at numerous well-respected events alongside global heavyweights such as Damien Marley, Michael Franti and The Cat Empire.
