BBSS finalise summer tour in Gisborne
After a season of gigging and festival appearances promoting their self-produced debut album, BrazilBeat Sound System return to the East Coast to celebrate the end of Summer, and drop some heavy bass in the exquisite Poverty Bay Club.
Fueled by an electrifying performance at Soundsplash last week, the DJ-percussion collective promise a bevy of spankin-new beats and road-tested drum-artistry.
The Poverty Bay Club is a former Gentleman's Club, erected in 1898 is the work of noted local architect William Peter Finneran. Women were not allowed to become members until 1988. The most spectacular feature is the domed lead-glass skylights in the Dome Room. The building fell into disuse, but was reopened by local businessmen 4 years ago. With increasing numbers of party people frequenting Gisborne to attend festivals like Rhythm & Vines and BW Camping Festival, the PBC has become one of New Zealand's the top summer music venues.
