Chocolate City Showdown

Dancefloor experimentalist and techno producer Carl Craig is returning in March for a Southern Hemisphere chocolate city showdown.

It's the first visit to New Zealand since 1998 for the titan of the Detroit techno scene whose many aliases include Chocolate City, Blakula, Piece, Psyche, BFC, Innerzone Orchestra and Paperclip People.

Craig's 'afronaut' innovation and individualism are respected pre-requisites for taking electronic music forward into the 21st century, and his avant-garde ideas on the dancefloor have bought untold amounts of joy to the clubs, parties and living rooms of the world.

Founder of independent record label Planet E, Craig has few equals in terms of the artistry, influence, and diversity of his groundbreaking recordings, encompassing everything from distorted beatbox samples and lo-fi electro riggings to crafted epic house tracks and legendary remixes.

Support on the New Zealand tour is Recloose, the Detroit born producer and DJ residing in Wellington, who was a turntablist for both Craig's Innerzone Orchestra and the more esoteric Uri Caine ensemble. His new album 'Hiatus On The Horizon' drops this year on Peacefrog label.
