A showdown between two rivals: Reggae, hip-hop, dancehall and wicked vibes
In the left corner is Champion Sound. They've built a reputation through their popular residency at Rakinos which they regularly pack out with rotating DJs and a variety of guests recently including Ladi 6, Tuff Enchant and The Turnaround DJs. The three Champion Sound DJs Ruffian, Earl E and The Niceisist jam like a band, taking turns on the turntables and mixing desk to add live dub effects to the vocals and horns.
In the right corner is the Sandy Bay Social Club. They're a group of five friends who love soccer, reggae, underground hip hop, soul and funk as well as a great party. The DJ line up of Pauly Who?, Ed G, Piet, Deli and Bu Stepper have slots on Base FM and play at venues like Khuja Lounge, Rakinos, Galatos, Safari Lounge and the Rising Sun.
Hosting the soundclash will be guests MC Arme (D1 Entertainment) and MC Bjorn (Open Souls), with live accompaniment provided by saxophonist Ashley Pou.
With a huge set-up of five turntables, three mixers, CDJs, laptops and boosted PA, the soundclash on Saturday will be an event not to be missed. Who's going to win? Only the crowd can decide that!
