A Party to benefit the AIDS / HIV Cause. Our intention is to hold a dance party with the purpose of both raising the awareness of UNICEF and to generate funds to further aid UNICEF in fighting HIV/AIDS.

    This event is organised by:

Mervyn (Studio Nine Manager), Jamilla (Unicef), Jenny (Unicef), Jackie, Bryce C (Firm records), Dennis McKinly (Unicef National Manager) Our intention is to hold a dance party with the purpose of both raising the awareness of UNICEF and to generate funds to further aid UNICEF in fighting HIV/AIDS.

Where ever possible, all those involved in the event are donating their time and efforts free of charge. This includes the promoters, ticketing agents, all DJs and performers, sound and lighting technicians, security, door staff and all equipment
    used on the night.

We will be running the gig as a non-profit event with all proceeds being handed to UNICEF New Zealand as a Christmas donation. We have chosen to highlight the AIDS crisis both to young Wellingtonians and to specifically assist in the HIV/AIDS crises currently sweeping the African country of Malawi.

The target amount of funds that we have set ourselves to raise is NZD $20,000.

UNICEF will be supplying an independent auditor to control and care for all the finances raised on the night

    Why a Dance Party?

At dance parties the world over, people come together to celebrate the fact that they are alive, to let their day-to-day problems fall away in movement and music and to feel a part of the incredible unique world that surrounds them.

It's at these events that people from all walks of life come together as one. It's at these events that we intend to reach out and touch each and every one of them.

The style of dance party that we will be holding will be aimed at the people that will soon be the next world leaders, trendsetters and socio-economic influences in our next generation's society.

These are the people that will be able to make our society more geared to help those in need and to act as a role model for the generations in the years to come. These people are still young enough to be passionate in what they do and how they do it, are still asking questions, seeking answers and forming opinions.

These people are those that we are aiming to fill our party with and are in our opinion the here and now of today's youth culture. This enables UNICEF to reach a youth audience and introduce them to the work done internationally to help people disadvantaged for a range of circumstances.

The party will be held at StudioNine in Wellington Central City, on
    Friday November the 16th.

Doors will open at the usual time of 11pm.

There will be presales, door sales and contribution boxes. Presales will be $15 and door sales will be $20.

Three separate rooms offer three different musical styles, as follows:

The Nine Bar - A premium cocktail bar with warm deep house sounds, lounge booth seating and soft relaxed lighting. In this room we intend to infuse the deep house DJ driven sound merging into disco house with that of a live percussionist.

The DJ's playing this room will be DJ's Roydsy, Liam, Jimmy Blunt and Stu.

The ClubBar - A larger room that will accommodate the funky breaks of the Two Step/Drum & Bass crew of Wellington's Bass Frontiers. This will be played out by DJ's B.Lo, Scan, and Kava and B-Line. MC Antic will provide live vocals.

SubNine - The largest room in the Studio Nine complex. This room will be where DJ's JP Flex, Bryce C, Ryan, Andy B and Filter will play alongside each other. The vocal talent of MC Antic will also be on offer playing out over top of the music and throughout the night.

Another room on offer, not usually a part of StudioNine but one that lies adjacent to SubNine will be used as a UNICEF awareness room. Here a team from UNICEF will povide a space where people can come and relax over a coffee and read up and chat about UNICEF causes.

Here we intend to make available info packs on UNICEF as a whole and specifically regarding Malawi as well as membership packs to those that want to take their involvement that one step further.
