A journey into live Acid House, featuring Heat Like Me

A two-piece live act, Heat Like Me's brand of live Acid House can be compared to dance music contemporaries Chemical Brothers, Justice and LCD Soundsystem. Heat Like Me perform on analogue equipment, including a fistful of homebrew electronics. Everything is performed live - that means no digital samples or watching a DJ press buttons on a laptop, purely live electronica.

Heat Like Me have enjoyed considerable support across the country, named "one to watch" in Rip It Up Magazine, extensive radio play on Radio Active, VBC and other radio stations across NZ, including holding Number 1 on the Active chart for six weeks. They have also generated positive press in publications Fluro Magazine and Bandwagon. Influential dance music website The Fast Life dubbed Heat Like Me's sound as music that "you will be gripped by immediately and the whole world should know about."

WHAT IS ACID HOUSE?

Acid house is a sub-genre of house music that emphasizes a repetitive, hypnotic and trance-like style, often with spoken lines rather than sung lyrics. Acid house's core electronic squelch sounds were developed around the mid-1980s, particularly by DJs from Chicago who experimented with the Roland TB-303 electronic synthesizer-sequencer. Acid house spread to the United Kingdom and continental Europe, where it was played by DJs in the acid house and later rave scenes.

Basically, it's super freaking fun squelchy dance music.
