Best in NZ music - for the kids

An amazing line up involving a good chunk of the best in NZ music all performing under the same roof for one night and giving all profits to kids.

UNICEF NZ and the hundreds of people who are behind the name 'Good Work' are thrilled to bring you 'Good Work'. The decision to go ahead and put the event together stemmed from a request for help from the Malawian government to UNICEF New Zealand and the incredable support from NZ bands, artists and people involved in the music industry happy to do something to help.

Hundreds of thousands of Malawian children under the age of 15yrs are seriously at risk of abuse and neglet having been orphaned by HIV/AIDS. There is major concern for their care and protection and due to the average life expectancy in Malawi being only 40 years, there is a lack of trained social workers that have skills in recognising child neglect and abuse. UNICEF NZ has the expertise and associations with relevant government and aid agencies in Malawi allowing them the ability to ease this crisis situation considerably.

The funds raised through 'Good Work' will provide the training for social workers to help them care for and protect the basic human rights of orphans of HIV/AIDS and place them out of institutions and into a supportive family environment.

UNICEF is the largest children's development organisation, operating in 158 countries worldwide and it is the most respected and recognised in its field. UNICEF works with governments and local communities in 158 countries to deliver emergency and long-term work in education, healthcare and child protection.

We help children wherever they are suffering regardless of nationality, politics, religion or ethnicity. 90cents of ever dollar raised for UNICEF goes directly to the field. In New Zealand UNICEF works to raise funds and awareness of its work overseas and to advocate for the rights of the child. For more information visit http://www.unicef.org.nz
