This May the nation celebrates New Zealand Music Month through a variety of events and activities on a national, regional and local scale.

On Fri 9 May, the Wellington region will celebrate as two top hometown bands, The Black Seeds & TrinityRoots take the stage together for only the second time in three years.

Both acts have spent the summer months touring extensively around the country with The Black Seeds having just returned home from a hugely successful Australian tour in April.

They have converged on the same city to entertain the masses with an evening of energetic and uplifting live performance. It is a celebration to commemorate the end of Active89 FM's NZ music week (and promises to be a show not to be missed!!).

The Black Seeds have become one of the party bands of the nation, producing a sound fused with dub, reggae and funk.

This stuff makes people groove. Their recent 14 show/16 day tour of Australia saw a successful release of their album 'Keep on Pushing' through Loop recordings and Shock records with many shows selling out in advance.

With a second album in full production, The Black Seeds will release later in 2003 and will be returning to Australia for another tour within the coming few months.

The contrast between TrinityRoots' independently released genre-busting recorded work and hypnotic live show is testament to their creative sensitivities and ability to entertain.

Their live show brings in elements of a rock-steady rhythm and guitar/vocal melodies, lyrical strength and rhythmic diversity.

The band have a unique ability to improvise within the structure of each song - always breaking into a dance groove that takes the audience on a mesmerising
journey.

TrinityRoots have recently emerged from their studio after a recording session that captured two more songs destined for local and international release.

Album sales for both bands (True , TrinityRoots; Keep on Pushing , The Black Seeds) are steady and both are only a few hundred units short of Gold status in New Zealand (7500 units sold = Gold).

Friday night will see the bands perform full-length sets, with the assistance of the much loved DJ Koa (Roots Foundation). Emphasis has been placed on premium production for both lighting and sound.
