NZ's own and only techno sound system, featuring Turnstyle & Organism, set up to run a cut & paste real time remix of the Dj experience 'hosted in a unique My My style.

My My Sound System brings their distinctive style of sonic meltdown to the backroom of the famous Lyttelton Wunderbar.

Influenced by the original dancehall sound systems, the My My version delivers a techno hybrid, deploying an array of technology to entice a rich electronic soundscape injected with pulsating minimalist techno. Expanding conventional mechanisms of Dj’ing, the My My Sound System is a multi user interface for delivering dance floor sonics. Software, samplers and Dj’ing tools are engaged to manipulate sounds. True to sound system style the 'system' itself becomes an instrument.

This session will feature Turnstyle & Organism in a freak filled jam of techno goodness. Playing a variety of their own raw material, Creative Commons downloads and vinyl classics. Expect to have your curiosity entertained by the most adventures sound system in the circuit

Turnstyle aka Simon Kong

Veteran “deep end” agent for many a lost cause, this battle worn player initiated the My My Sound System in 05. Seeking to present an evolution to the dance music experience for a rapidly softening club audience.

An early proponent of melodic grooves and mash mixing, known for running dubbed out cuts and shuffled loops far into the late side of the night, Turnstyle brings the ethic of NZ’s pioneering dance floors into a modern context.

Putting together over a decade of Dj experience with career of sound engineering and an interest in digital music creation the My My Sound System is a natural result of Turnstyles expression.

Soon to be releasing tracks through the upcoming Obscure Cuts net label, watch out for this under current in the New Zealand Techno scene.

Currently Turnstyle is the editor for long running dance website Obscure.co.nz and can be found netcasting via Psurkit.net. Off line Turnstyle is studying for a music degree at Canterbury University and starting a family to continue his electronic empire.

Organism aka John McCallum

Infamous from Castle Hill to Lyttelton, this biogenetic scientist melds abstract genetic observation into a multi textured electronic music interest. With a practice that can interfaces with the more microtonal experimentalists to the cyber funk bam bam of Massive Party chill out zones, Organism is a diverse journeyman in the electronic scene.

Sporting a penchant for stripped out minimal rhythms that exploit subtlety in their tonal expression Oscillates injection to the sound scape is infectious and groovy.

Organism has released several sound pieces into collaborative CD issues of experimental music. Always with an ear for groove expect future works to have more direction to the dance floor.
