Phat drum and bass from Sons of the South Pacific.
Sons of the South Pacific , Australia's Pendulum and NZ's own State of Mind , step out to show their colours in a national August tour in support of Pendulum's forthcoming album 'Hold Your Colour'.
In just three short years since their inception, Pendulum have picked up prizes and accolades for their unique sound and generated some of the biggest singles in the scene.
'Hold Your Colour' features the trademark Pendulum sound complete with cinematic intro's, drum & bass floor-fillers, breakbeat (including a collaboration with breaks dons the Freestylers) as well as 80's latin-rock-fuelled funk. As the UK's Knowledge Magazine says, "hip hop has The Neptunes, garage has MJ Cole, and now drum & bass has Pendulum."
This will be the fourth visit to New Zealand for Pendulum.
Also upping the ante of the drum & bass genre and joining the ranks of kiwi's achieving international musical success is State of Mind.
The duo, comprising Stu Maxwell and Patrick Hawkins, have a schedule of high profile releases lined up on several of the world's most influential drum & bass labels.
State of Mind is the name on many an international DJ's Top 10 list right now, and the buzz surrounding these guys has grown to a steady hum with major names like DJ Marky, Klute, Total Science, Concord Dawn and Bad Company UK rewinding their tracks during sets, and tipping State of Mind as ones to watch very closely.
In a country with a knack for turning out a high caliber of artists and producers, in the drum & bass genre we are truly excelling. Those in the south pacific show great understanding for what is traditionally known as the UK's own music.
Pendulum's 'Hold Your Colour' is released in NZ on August 3, 2005 through Subtronix & Samurai Distribution
