This will be the fourth Renaissance tour that Spooky Productions have brought to our shores. Spooky's never-ending quest to create the perfect party has resulted in a standard of production that sets a benchmark for other promoters. If you haven't experienced a Spooky Productions event yet, make sure you're ready for SUPERNOVA.

RENAISSANCE

Renaissance once again resides in NZ. Following the huge success of Ian Ossia & Nigel Dawson back in October '98, Spooky Productions bring you the next installment.

Ian Ossia is no stranger to NZ. First brought over by Levis in 'March 98 to launch their Body Language range, Ossia soon left his trademark of deep, but hard progressive house music engraved on many a clubber's mind. Now he is joined in NZ by another Renaissance resident DJ Dave Seaman. Seaman has been described as something of a versatile chap. As one of the key names in the UK dance music scene, Seaman started out playing with the then unknown heavyweight of progressive house, Sasha & is now regarded as part of the 'progressive mafia'(Sasha, BT & Way Out West). Several years later, he is still DJing at virtually any big or small club that you care to mention, including Cream, Ministry of Sound, Love to Be, Golden & Renaissance. As part of Brothers in Rhythm, Seaman has remixed some of the biggest names in music, including Micheal Jackson, Kylie Minogue, Seal & The Pet Shop Boys as well as releasing huge club hits - Peace & Harmony & Such a Good Feeling. On top of all this, he also runs Stress Records promoting artists such as Chris & James, John Digweed & Hustlers Convention. As Seaman says in his own words" If it's worth doing, it's worth doing to excess"

IAN OSSIA

Ian's illustrious career began with guest spots on the Leeds local scene in the early nineties. In 1992, a friend of Ian's passed a mix tape on to Sasha, who in turn passed it on to Geoff Oakes, Renaissance proprietor and James Bailey of Venus in Nottingham. A combination of the right talent in the right place at the right time left Ian with the prestigious job of resident at Renaissance and multiple appearances at the legendary Venus in Nottingham. Ian has grown with Renaissance to this day and continues pioneering the inimitable Renaissance sound.

Ian's Djing schedule is ever-increasing, spinning at the most influential nights in club-land. Along with his Renaissance residency and residency at London's new progressive night Prologue he has guested at Gatecrasher, Slinky, and Ministry of Sound. His popularity spreads across every continent of the world, with frequent gigs in Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, Europe, to name a few... He is breaking into the USA scene with monthly gigs and last year toured with Ministry of Sound on their groundbreaking Trance Nation Tour hitting the east and west coasts of America.

Ian has mixed two highly acclaimed Renaissance albums. 'Renaissance Volume 4' with Dave Seaman, which sold + 50,000 copies and one of the Renaissance sub-series of mix compilations, entitled 'Renaissance Presents' selling around + 30,000 copies. His approach to his own production work has

Studio work seems to be the Holy Grail for DJ's in recent years, and Ian has taken a long term approach by building his own cutting-edge digital studio and developing strong ties with like-minded artists, including Richard Schiessl (producer for Jimmy van M. & the Bedrock released Yum Yum amongst others) and Human Movement (Marc Mitchell and Paul Mack). Through these collaborations and solo work Ian has recently produced some outstanding material, the first of which is released now on Forward Recordings, part of the prestigious 3-beat label management group, entitled "Unbalanced" by Symmetrik, with more releases to come over the course of the year. All pre-production for these tracks took place at Ian's home studio with the mixdown at the much-revered "Sanctuary Music Technology" complex in Jersey's Fort Regent. Ian has developed a deep but still euphoric sound in the same line as his DJ sets.

NIGEL DAWSON

Nigel Dawson is a DJ known for his definitive house sets varying from the deeper and subtle music to the full on progressive and has built a solid reputation working with the likes of The Gallery, Promise, The Cross, Space, Lush, Bliss, Ministry of Sound and, of course, Renaissance.
In 1992 Renaissance was in it's infancy. Residents were Sasha and Digweed esteemed company to say the least, making it one of the hardest stages on which to make an impression, but impress Nigel did and it forged his own residence which has survived to this day.

The scenario is familiar guest DJ fails to show, young and unknown there is Nigel on hand willing to fill in, young DJ rocks it, consequently, young DJ goes onto glittering DJ and production career. However familiar this scenario is it rarely, if ever happens, but in Nigel Dawson's case it is.

Along the way this talent and penchant for hard work has established him as a regular on the UK club circuit this includes The Gallery, The Pod, Lush, The Sugarshack, to name but a few. He has become the cornerstone of the long running successful night at The Cross in London as sole resident but also can be found playing at Media in Nottingham to his and their home crowd on a regular basis.

If that weren't enough he also guests at many of the clubs in the UK and Worldwide and as a result Nigel is now established an impeccable global reputation. International dates include :

Australia, South Africa, USA, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore, Ibiza, Canada, Sweden, Oslo, Russia, China, Amsterdam, Luxemburg, Switzerland, Spain, Greece, Belgium, Japan. Following months this is to expand further to Mexico, Brazil, Finland, Buenos Aires and France.

In 1996 Nigel made the logical progression into studio production. From this his pseudonym "Dominion" was born and his first track soon found a home on Whoop Records. Entitled " The Gate ", it was an instant success with the progressive mafia and was included on the Renaissance four compilation featuring Dave Seaman and lan Ossia. "Creation" also was included on Renaissance's Singapore compilation mixed by Dave Seaman.

" Lost Without You" was present on Gatecrashers first compilation CD This was, however, the tip of the iceberg. Nigel has developed a long and prolific production career, he enjoyed critical acclaim with his seventh single 11 Hours, which was licensed worldwide to seven territories and is set for re-release through the German label Planetary Consciousness.

He has also remixed tracks through Sony, Stress and mixed the first two compilations of the Whoop Mix compilation CD's with a third set to follow in September 2001.

The Renaissance Presents compilation with lan Ossia sold a staggering forty thousand and Nigel still has
people saying its their favourite CD. Progressive heads can look forward to more tracks in the coming months Shapeshifter on Whoop Records that Nigel describes as "deep and simple-much like myself" And an explosive collaboration under the pseudonym Osiris with the excellent Redanka set for release on Rhythm Syndicate in September 2001.

Osiris has already received heavy support from Danny Tengalia, Sasha and Nick Warren charting the track as number one.

As if this wasn't enough Seb Fontaine has given Osiris the title of "Best Record of The Year".

With Nigel's continuing success in the studio, his residency with Renaissance and his excellent sets around the world combined with a genuine, reputation as a respected musician and as an approachable nice guy, cheeky chappie! There seems to be nothing to stand in his way.
