Ian Pooley is one of the most respected producers in dance music today. Over the past year, the maestro of deep disco house has been working on a new long player that fully reflects his artistic development.

Since his first releases as a teenager, Ian's musical skills have constantly progressed and evolved. His first steps into house music are partly collected on his first album "The Times" (1996, Force Inc.). But it was his first real artist album "Meridian" (1998, V2), followed by the highly acclaimed "Since Then" (2000, V2), that established Ian Pooley as a top international producer and DJ.

For his upcoming new album, Ian Pooley took his studio to New Zealand where he spent a beautiful summer in the area of Piha. Here Pooley found the time to devote all his attention to musical production. In his hide-away studio, Ian gathered ideas and sketched out all the songs on his new album. One result of these sessions is the wonderful summer anthem "Piha", which was created with Dick "Magic J" Johnson.

While the trademark sound of Ian Pooley has never changed, his songs embrace an incredibly broad range of music. Brazilian and Latin rhythms, tasteful hints of soul, jazz and blues, and cuts from Detroit techno or New Jersey house. His recent releases evidence an openness to all forms of quality dance music, whilst his DJ mixes show that Ian is still a DJ at heart (check his take for the successful "nite:life" series, on NRK).

In order to promote his music in the most independent way, Ian Pooley has just established his very own "Pooled" record label. Pooled will soon see the release of Ian's new album, as well as releases from talented artists from all parts of the world. On his many trips, Ian is always on the lookout for fresh new artists.
