Indeed, the royal decree that set the wheel in motion was overheard as: 'yes phillip, mek all people dem come & dance, seen'

Roots Foundation Sound System - Jah Dub The Queen

Six key themes have been identified to guide the planning and delivery of the Golden Jubilee revelry.

1. CELEBRATION ACROSS JAH NATION !

The Queen has expressed the wish that her Golden Jubilee should be an occasion for celebration involving the whole community. The focal point of the celebrations will be the ROOTS FOUNDATION SOUND SYSTEM TOUR OF NEW ZEALAND from 29 May thru 2 June 2002 , a Jubilee weekend of special dances to mark the Golden Jubilee, in her own words "A right royal mash up, m'lud".

2. GIVING THANKS AND PRAISES TO THE MOST HIGH !

The Queen has said that she sees her Golden Jubilee as an opportunity for the dancing public of Aotearoa to get down to the #1 sound. Her Majesty's tour (in portrait format) with the Roots Foundation will also provide citizens of Aotearoa with opportunities to thank her for 50 years of dedicated dancing service. DJs Lemon, Mu, Koa & Goosebump along with microphone controller Imon Star will "light up the chalice inna Buckingham Palace" on behalf of these late night assemblys, although feel free to join in the spirit by lashing up a large one yourself.

3. SERVICES TO REGGAE MUSIC !

The Golden Jubilee celebrations will provide a special opportunity to acknowledge all those who support and contribute to their communities through public service and voluntary endeavour, including the dedicated beat collectors of the Roots Foundation who scour the globe week by week, above & beyond the call of passion, seeking the freshest vinyl cuts of roots, dub, reggae, ragga, hip hop & breaks with which to rock the dancefloor.

4. INVOLVING THE WHOLE COMMUNITY !

The Queen hopes that the "Jah Dub The Queen" celebration tour will reach into every community and involve everyone no matter what their background, age, culture, ethnic origin, religion or other status. It is hoped that the Golden Jubilee tour will be an inclusive occasion; that the celebrations will be accessible to all those who want to participate ( ie keeping it low so you can go) ; and that they will reflect the multiculturalism in our society today and the diversity we see around us, much like a typical Roots Foundation Sound System Night.

5. FORWARDS EVER BACKWARDS NEVER !

The celebration of a 50-year reign (or 10 years in the sound system business if you will) is a time for reflection on the ways in which our lives have changed. It also offers us the chance to take stock of where we stand today and to look to the future. The Golden Jubilee is as much for young people in our communities as it is for the older generation who have been attending ROOTS FOUNDATION dances since the early days circa 1992.

6. LAND GRABBING PIRATES OF THE COMMONWEALTH !

The significance of the Commonwealth to the development of modern life is central to the programme of the Golden Jubilee. There is an important common wealth dimension to each of the other themes which places the common wealth at the heart of the Jubilee. When you put the words common, and wealth, together, in reference to the Royal Family, it seems rather strange on reflection, don't it ?

" Double-dating dance floor science with smokey late-night vibes and a cornerstone sound of massive reggae beats, The Roots Foundation from New Zealand cook up a spicy sonic stew that defies categorisation and demands your attention "
