"We will vanquish all pretenders"

Ring the alarm; Wellington's original upsetters, Roots Foundation Sound System, are re-uniting to get dread at the controls for a mighty night of Dub Zero.

After a two-year hiatus, the heavyweight dub champions, DJ Mu, Goosebump, Koa and Lemon are putting on the gloves this September at Sandwiches to challenge all pretenders to the sound system throne.

The Roots rebels reckon they stopped doing gigs 'cos there was no other competition to clash sounds with downtown.

Mu says, "There are a few pretenders around now so we thought we'd step back into the ring and teach a new generation that we are the originators not the imitators. We will vanquish all pretenders".

The smashing superstar sound system first played together 12 years ago, mashing up our ears and heartbeats with their funky jungle dub and skanking vinyl collections, MPC beats and Space Echo delays. It was a revolution that inspired Wellington's bass culture.

Imon Star from Rhombus and Riki Gooch from TrinityRoots will team up with the all-conquering Roots Foundation Sound System on the Dub Zero challenge at Sandwiches.

Expect an all night session of mad noise as the Roots Foundation Sound System journey through the full roots spectrum, from pure 7 inch reggae classics to ragga, dub, dancehall, hip hop and any other sound with a deep dark bass beat. Dub Zero: a super sonic rock steady explosion.
