Silkie fast facts:

Silkie is 23 and hails from Hammersmith, west London.

He’s the first member of the Anti Social Entertainment collective to release a debut album.

Other Anti Social members include Quest, Ms Beats, Kromestar, J5, Harry Craze and Heny G.

He’s signed to Mala’s (Digital Mystikz/DMZ) DEEP MEDi label. Other artists to release on DEEP MEDi include Mala (DMZ), Loefah (DMZ), Coki (DMZ) Skream, drum & bass legend Calibre, Quest, Kromestar, Clouds (Finland), Hijak and Goth Trad (japan).

He’s DJed all over the globe, but his favourite place to play is Dub War in New York.

Silkie has a residence on London’s leading pirate station, Rinse FM alongside a-list DJs like Skream, Marcus Nasty, Wiley & Roll Deep, Dizzee Rascal & Newham Generals, Oneman and Spyro.

SILKIE BIO:
Dubstep producer and DJ from West London. He released his debut LP City Limits Volume 1 in July 2009 on Deep Medi Musik, a dubstep label run by Mala of Digital Mystikz . He was personally chosen by Mala, along with collaborator Quest, to represent the growing global bass scene in Mary-Anne Hobbs’ live mix showcase Generation Bass in September 2008 on BBC Radio 1, two-and-a-half years after the seminal Dubstep Warz.

“It’s fair to say the dubstep scene has splintered and refracted into myriad Sub(bass)styles over the last couple of years, but at the epicentre of the scene are a few artists who have maintained the original spirit of the style while alloying it successfully with influences that were always hovering on the edges, but never fully integrated. Silkie is one of those artists…who’s heated elements of deeper house and synth driven soul around the glowing core of DMZ’s bassbins to create one of the lushest fusions in the scene.” Boomkat, July 2009.

DEEP MEDi Musik are proud to present the debut album from one of dubstep’s most exciting artists: Silkie. Hailing from west London, “City Limits Volume 1” is a glorious explosion of physical energy and concentrated emotion. Deep Medi is the burgeoning stable of dubstep pioneer, Mala (Digital Mystikz/DMZ).

The combination of impassioned melodies, ruff London bass, wonky synth and jungle-esque flourishes on “City Limits Volume 1” have made Silkie and his Anti Social Entertainment camp mainstays of the biggest and most influential venues in dubstep, like Fwd>>, DMZ London & Leeds, as well as London’s leading station Rinse FM.

The album is the culmination of eight years hard work: Silkie began producing at 15 while still at school. He’s now seeing the fruits of his labour with DJ bookings both across the UK and worldwide. Through his emotive production vision, he’s long since exploded beyond his own personal City Limits.
