Dubwise Breakbeat master returns to our shores.

Tayo is a lion amongst the sheep. While some are busy labeling genres and categorizing beats, Tayo is fearlessly defying categorization - blending the full spectrum sounds of bass and breaks in the club and on vinyl. This self-confessed music junkie from South London has utilised his expansive, action-packed career to champion the diversity of the breakbeat sound. Dipping into scenes across the board as a DJ, record label owner, promoter and press officer, he’s continually proved to be the linchpin between the many different subgenres crammed within the wide umbrella of bass and breakbeat culture. The result is a fusion of futuristic dubwise electro beats that rock dancefloors across the globe.

Delving first into drum n bass, Tayo was introduced to seminal breakbeat legends Adam Freeland and Rennie Pilgrem while working at the Soul Jazz record store in London. The trio started the club night Friction at Bar Rhumba, with the aim of showcasing breakbeat culture. Friction hosted the cream of breaks producers, including Freq Nasty, Freestylers, Soul of Man, Plump DJs and Hybrid. During this time Tayo’s reputation as a mean DJ with an ear for edgy, futuristic dancefloor sounds exploded and so did his bookings. Amongst it all, he still found time to host a weekly radio show on Kiss FM and set up Mob Records, which has to this day released some of breakbeat’s biggest tunes, like Stanton Warriors’ The Virus and The Antidote.
On the production tip Tayo has kept himself more than busy, having released numerous 12”s and an LP, Next Level Breaks (Dread at the Controls). Tayo’s innovation as a DJ and the respect in which he is held by his peers was last year cemented by his contribution to the legendary FabricLive mix series. The energy and passion this DJ brings to the turntables is captured perfectly in this 70-minute celebration of bass and breakbeat sounds.

Sub Bass Vibrations is proud to showcase the diversity of bass-driven music. If there is one true ambassador of contemporary bass culture, Tayo is the man. Joining the dots of breakbeat, dubstep, baile funk and electro, Tayo brings the upfront sound of London’s underground live and direct to Wellington. Joined by local breakbeat extraordinaire Dunsta with MC Kyla, P-Vans (Strictly 138), Takkas and Sticky Fingaz, this night of dubwise beats and electro breaks will rock your mind and the dancefloor.
