The Soccer World Cup is just around the corner! New Zealand’s first game is Tuesday 15th of June at 11pm! Brazil’s is the following day at 6:00 in the morning. Without a doubt this year’s FIFA World Cup in South Africa will be a show of amazing football and local colour. For those stuck in New Zealand, kick off the World Cup excitement at Bodega with a full-on Brazilian Party celebrating "The Beautiful Game" Saturday 12th June in Wellington.

Brazilbeat Sound System is an electronic band formed in San Fransisco, USA in 2000, and currently based in New Zealand. Pulling elements from Brazil and around the world, the BBSS sound is forged: a mashup of dub, baile funk, 4-on-the-floor, through to dnb, injected with roots level percussion. BBSS deliver explosive live shows, crammed with heavy bass, drum solos and hard-case MCing. Brazilbeat has featured at many top festivals in New Zealand including Homegrown, Rhythm & Vines, Splore and Cuba Street Carnival. Percussionist/MC Nego Beto created the project together with Californian producer and DJ Mara. Beto has played music on five continents, having toured with dozens of high profile acts including The Wailers and produced Reggae MTV for MTV Brazil. BBSS tracks have featured on compilations in the USA, Brazil, Japan & New Zealand, the independently released first album 'Nova' (2008) available on iTunes worldwide. The advance track from Brazilbeat's second album is "Future is Now (DnB Remix)", featuring MC Dreadeye. The song is a fusion of drum & bass with baile-funk (ghetto-tronic music from Rio de Janeiro). DJ Bobby Brazuka is the unofficial Brazilian ambassador of music and culture in Auckland City, with a distinguished palate for Samba, Soul, funk and Latin hip hop amongst a host of other styles. Bobby has been sharing his love for music in New Zealand for the last 9 years playing his tasty beats through the airwaves of George FM and Base FM, hosting the lendary “Balada” and “Tropicalia” parties and playing regular sets in Auckland clubs Khuja Lounge, Rakinos, Ponsonby Social Club to name a few. Bobby regularly returns to Brazil to keep his crate full of heavy weight funky vinyl.
