Fat Freddy's Drop on New Years

Bringing the freaky beat back to the street, Fat Freddy's Drop presents THE FLASHBACK at the Phoenix on New Year's Eve.

The Flashback will be the first ever New Year's Eve performance in Wellington by Fat Freddy's Drop, purveyors of hi tek soul.

Slave is Master of Ceremony, the Eggs (featuring members of Twinset and Fat Freddy's Drop) will scramble some free-range grooves, and Recloose, Zen, Koa, Goosebump and Kava are the beat merchant reinforcements.

"The Flashback promises to be a rawkus and shameless gathering of freaks" says Fitchie, gig manager, producer and MPC connoisseur.

Fat Freddy's Drop will be in sublime form as they celebrate the December release of Flashback, the 12" single that's inspired the party theme.

"The Flashback single is a fresh slice of future funk, a tune with surprises, fakes and freaky sidesteps. It's a great introduction of what's to come on the new album," says Fitchie.

The 12" b-side is a stripped back version of Midnight Marauders that Freddy's nailed in a live recording session at the BBC Maida Vale studios for Gilles Peterson's WorldWide show.

Awarded Best Live Act at the b-Net NZ Music Awards 2004, the seven Fat Freddy's Drop players recently received Gold Records for Live at the Matterhorn. The CD sold over 9,000 copies purely through word of mouth.
