Bass Frontiers are very proud to welcome UK DMC Team champs and World DMC team runners up Beni G and DJ Go aka The Mixologists for an exclusive 4 deck Hip hop/Drum and Bass extravaganza. Fresh from headlining the Friday night festivities at the Hip Hop Summit in Auckland with a hip hop exhibition set. The Mixologists make their way down to Wellington for a full 4 deck drum and bass/hip hop assault. Wellington is the only place in NZ set to witness the blinding 4 deck drum and bass turntablism of the Mixologists.
Originally formed in 1997 by DJ Go, first meeting Beni G, then linking up with Gizroc and Yo-one at various DJ battles, the 4 began entering competitions under the Mixologists name. With the name still relatively unknown in 1999, the team came 3rd in the UK DMC team championships, won the European I.T.F. championship and came runner up in the World I.T.F. Finals in Hawaii. In their first year of battling, the crew had already established themselves as a threat, on a world stage. After further success in 2000 (winning the UK DMC Team championships and placing 3rd in the World), the Mixologists streamlined and DJ Go and Beni G became the only 2 members of the crew. The two then went on to successfully defend their UK title in 2001 and come World DMC runner ups, their best accolade to date.
Go and Beni have taken their innovative and eclectic DJ style (spinning hip hop, breakbeat, and drum & bass) across the UK, Europe and worldwide having dj'ed in every continent. In 4 years of battling the Mixologists have already done more than most, but it is in clubs where they really shine. They are set to continue to entertain crowds all over the world with the option of hip hop sets, drum & bass sets or both. 2003 looks set to be their biggest year yet, with their first compilation album released in July 2003 (Champion Sounds), their own production, touring and many other projects currently in the pipeline.
