Fat Freddy's Drop headline thouroughbred Welli race meet in Auckland

Fat Freddy's Drop is headlining Trifecta! a thoroughbred evening of Welli sound and comedic genius at The Regent Theatre on Good Friday.

The seven piece band with the deepest dopest sounds in the land will be a safe bet this Easter with top support from the in-form Flight of the Conchords and new comers 15 piece Afro-beat all stars, Scribes of Ra.

Fat Freddy's Drop stars Joe Dukie, Fitchie, Fulla Flash, Jetlag Johnson, Dobie Blaze, Hopepa and Clubba Laing, and in the race for victory, audiences will be electrified by their skanking hypnotic urban Pacific roots, dub and electronic dance vibrations.

Flight of the Conchords is the bad boys of folk, Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie. Flight of the Conchords digi-bongo-acapella-rap-influenced guitar-based folk commentary is sure to give the big boys of music a run for their money, especially the classic, Hiphopapotomus vs Rhymenoceros

Trifecta! is the maiden Auckland start for the Scribes of Ra, a thundering Afro-beat chariot driven by class musicians from The Black Seeds, Fat Freddy's Drop, Trinity Roots, Phoenix Foundation and Twinset. Inspired by Nigerian Afro-beat super star Fela Kuti, Scribes of Ra blend funk, jazz and traditional African high life/juju music. Scribes of Ra predict an action packed run before Fat Freddy's Drop serves two hours of killer dance tunes.

Trifecta! is one of the last Auckland appearances that Fat Freddy's Drop will make before tripping overseas for the first of two Northern Hemisphere summer tours. This years tours, in April/May and September, will capitalize on the outstanding response to Fat Freddy's Drop's 2003 UK/Europe tour.
