Sam Brownie otherwise known as S.A.M.A.R.I (Sa-ma-ree) needs no introduction in New Zealand’s dance music scene and now Melbourne.

After DJ’ing locally in Wellington for 3 years and running Massey University’s longest running radio show “Loopheads” Samari got his break playing radio parties at Sandwiches (Winner best club 2006) where, alongside DJ Perspex, Samari gained massive crowd response and was picked up by Sandwiches to warm for Greg Churchill (Voted NZ’s no.1 DJ) in November 2005

Quickly after, Samari developed Electroluxxe, which had its debut in May 2006 alongside DJ’S Sift and Perspex. Electroluxxe is now Wellingtons premier electro club Experience, housing three resident VJ’s and show casing International and National artists.

‘Luxxe has 15 massive parties under its belt, hosting the likes of Australian DJ’s Jono Fernandez and Kill Me DJ plus bands such as Pig out and Heat Like Me and nationals like Angela Fisken and DJ Loki. The brand has grown from its Wellington base and has now toured Auckland, Christchurch and Melbourne, as well as having promotional Cd releases and a range of Jewelery selling locally in Wellington.

Samari is no stranger to the big parties playing exclusive slots at Festival parties such as Fever and Slinky as well as support for international’s such as Chicks On Speed and The Battles plus several appearances playing alongside Greg Churchill and Angela Fisken at the juggernaut which is Aural Trash!

What makes this DJ’s sound so diverse? The answer is his diverse music range and style.

Coming from techno and drum and bass roots (a stable diet in New Zealand) Samari found his feet in Electro and Tech. Since establishing himself with Electroluxxe, playing from lager-lout rock right through to high energy tech Samari has now diverged into driving minimal as well.

Samari is well known for keeping a thriving energy in his mixes and always communicating with the crowd. Alongside his DJ’ing Samari often tours with VJ Jem The Misfit (Pro DJ winner 2008) bringing the full audio visual experience to the floor with specificly made visuals.

Now developing his production skills Samari has his first release with a remix of Heat Like Me’s “ You Want It” Under the Electroluxxe banner due out on Itunes in 2009. New Zealands own Pitch Black has invited Samari to remix two tunes for them, due out 2009. Pig out have their new EP ‘Revenge’ out in 2009 so expect a Samari remix there as well.
