So you probably didn't read a word we wrote last week ..
Hence 'I propose to attempt again to provide a simple look at 'what was' and 'what is' out on our obscure dancefloor this week.
First up :: get your goggles on and dust off your flippers '
.. [[/events/20_000_leagues_deep]]
Now if you are wondering what all the fallafel is about 'then we need to simmer down some facts about the Wellington dance sound.
Aside from a desperately 'fab' late night club ethic, there was a point when a divergent dancefloor sprung from the dust of an empty warehouse. If you are enough to remember these early days you will appreciate that it was 'certain sound' that carried enough strength and philosphy to build this new dancefloor.
That certain sound was Detroit Techno. It was a sound that carried a rhythm & understanding that reached deep into the psych of many heads at the time. You could say it was just good party music, but there is relationship between those sounds; those experiences; that created foundations for electronic music in Wellington ever since.
Theo Parrish with his music, brings the 'essence' and 'evolution' from the origin of the Wellington dancefloor. So inherently this becomes about more than just style and dj's, but a real commitment to a personal identity with the music; the experience and the journey of both.
In short' the old school will go to feel cool like they used too. The new school will go to be cool like the old school, and the rest will be there in a desperate belief that they are cool.
But psecretly everyone will give into the music and find themselves deep beneath the cool surface to share an experience that we all know as true. Be There!
