Just this week I have subscribed to my first videoblog, and now receive the news according to some chick in New York, fresh on my laptop!
For starters it makes me laugh, and secondly I watch it when I want too.
For me, the ability to be connected to a global community that I relate too and participate with daily is a profound experience in the kind of future I can live with.
As we globalize, as we are assimilated into borderless culture, we need the ability to have a reference point. Relationships around common interests create communities that remain grounded in their shared values.
Web media is enabling individuals to net-cast their experience to an interrelated audience. Alternatives to mass media are not a revolution, they are an evolution: a natural partner to media driven by the money of politics and marketing.
The nature of mass-media and money has blurred the lines of objectivity. Home built media is the opposite side of this coin. No money! Make it how you like it!
