The night was the 27th of March 2001. I had been waiting 6 years for someone to get their act together and bring Mills to our town and on this night my dream came true.
It is so rare to see a good, no, Fantastic techno DJ in Wellington and i knew that jeff mills would not dissapoint. Although our little welly has a small techno massive, I hadn't seen a crowd this up for it since Adam Beyer played at Pheonix.
The eveing started with Cuff playing to an already large crowd. At 2:00 the stage was set for the PurposeMaker himself. The dance floor was packed up with myself in the centre, arms in the air, big grins and shouts of pleasure from all around as Mills warmed up.
For two-hours Mills entrtained me and my techno brothers, altough my memory is sketcy at best, I remember hearing very familier tracks from Purposemaker and Axis records, also some favorites by Surgeon, Advent and CodeRed.
Apart from a couple of skipping records and some sweaty fiend grabbing me on the dance-floor, yelling insanitys in my ear it was a clean banging set.
Coda came on at 4:00 to keep the party going well after dawn whilst I hid sun and licked my mental wounds.
Wellington Wants More Techno and hopefully the God Of Partys will provide!!
