Wassup from Singapore

Went down to Zouk about 11pm, Oh Mi Gosh!!! what can I say, it's the most fantastic club space I have ever seen in my life. Sprawling across 3 warehouse spaces, it is an endless maze of bars, clubs and dancefloors.

Arrived about 7pm last night and hooked up with Jonothan Yeo who took us out to sample some of the local flavas for dinner. Haven't had much of a chance to check to much out yet but will get on to that today.

The main room (Zouk) holds around 2000 people and was going off last night to the sounds of Ashley Beedle from 12 - 3am. Very interesting vibe, fuelled by alcohol and with a very noticable lack of illicit substances.

Beedle was very average IMO dropping heaps of way cheesy house. Cuffy was extremely disappointed and by the time all the alcohol we were continually supplied with took control he was getting quite aggressive because he just knew Ashley was capable of so much more. Compared to the stuff the guy writes, what he played last night was utter shit, oh well. He's playing again tonight in the Velvet Underground another club contained within the Zouk Complex, hopefully he might go a bit deeper.

Velvet Underground was very impressive also, a sumptuous House club with 'nuff chandeliers and classy works of art (even had an original Keith Haring hanging on the wall!). The other dancefloor within the complex is called Phuture which focuses on the "breakier" side of music. Unfortunatly all that was being played last night was rubbish trance. Wicked nonetheless though, it holds about 500 people. Tonight will be a very special night for Phuture as it will be the first time drum and bass has featured at Zouk. Will be very interesting to see how the locals respond to Seans sounds.

Tonight the gig is called ke06:evolution and kicks off at 10pm. Cuffy is playing the main room at midnight, he is followed by Technasia and then Yeo is finishing the night. There is a good buzz round about it so it should be pretty large. You can check out the site at www.kefm.net.

Well thats about it for now, gonna cruise out and check some of the sights before the madness starts again tonight. Will post some more shit after tonight and let you know how it all went.
