That time of the month again ...
Well its another brilliant summer's day in the middle of winter, and I just got back from DJing up at Vic for the past three hours, so I'm gonna blast thru this and get back outside :)

Well its another brilliant summer's day in the middle of winter, and I just got back from DJing up at Vic for the past three hours, so I'm gonna blast thru this and get back outside :)
Drum'n'Bass ... first up, Doc Scott (Thurs 10th Aug) will be a night out not to miss, being this month's major Drum'N'bass production, thanks to Grind. Make sure you relieve yourself of any tasks for the friday afterward! Tickets $30 from Real Groovy and Flipside. About a fortnight later, Grind bands together again for another 'Old Skool nite' - always lots of fun. A little bit further down the track is Andy C (October), another UK head who helped form the UK scene back in 1992. Not to worry, there's plenty of Bass Frontiers nights before then to fuel your primevil music desires...
Continuing the Studionine theme, Thursdays are now dishing out music for varying tastes, with house ("Thump On Thursdays") and hiphop ("Elementary") being nicely catered for. Very nice price to get in, too :) Jonathon Yeo makes a return to Wellington this month ... Your knowledge of this singaporean DJ can be furthered at ZoukClub (His bio has massive attack playing the background ... nice)
Victoria University's Pride Week is hosting Blatant, a dance party for queers and their friends on the 12th. Tickets $15 from Vic Books, UniQ, Body Worship and Phenoix Box Office. More info at UniQ.
Other things at Phenoix, include ofcourse, FEVAH (19th), which always sells out - so get down to Firm Records with $30 if you want in on that. If you want more value for money, go to Dj Bexta this saturday - not only do you get to hear (and see) one of Sydney's finest female DJs, you also get a free mix cd. All this (and no more) for only $25. Ginsu2000 Knives next time, perhaps.
For all the young people, all is not lost if you need timeout from Zeal. Keep an eye for HiJinx - they should have a nice event organised by September.
Finally, unfortunately no one managed to identify the girl from Fun Poison Karnage, (see last month's edition) so I guess I will just have to make do with the photos I took. Sigh.
