The recent release of ALLOYS, the new album from Freq has so far been a large success, with about 400 copies sold in Dunedin, Christchurch and Nelson alone, over a period of 3 months. Sparked by this success, giant German label Euromedia (sub label CIRCLES) have released an EP based on Alloys. This means a great deal for New Zealand electronica. With national distribution organized for the North Island a six-date tour of Northern New Zealand is planned for the end of May/beginning of June. The locations include: Nelson, Wellington, Napier, Auckland, Hamilton and Tauranga. The aim of the Alloys tour of northern New Zealand is as much about promoting the debut album/German EP release , from FREq, as it is about promoting New Zealand made electronica. Each event will see at least one local live artists along with at least one local DJ. These will be joined by the touring line up to show people what New Zealand electronic music is all about. The supporting live acts for FREq are; LRS (Wellington), PARIS (Hamilton), Nyquist (Christchurch), Sine (Auckland) , Baitercell (Auckland), Scattergram (Auckland), Chaos Reader (Auckland), R.A.M (Napier), Gild (Nelson). The tour begins in Wellington on the 23 May at the Judder Bar in Wellington followed by an extravagant party at the Crypt in Auckland on the 30th of May. Tauranga, Hamilton (@XTATIC), Napier (@O'Flaherty's) are visited on the 4th, 5th and 6th of June respectively. The final date is Nelson on the 11th of June at ZHIVAGOS. Admission charges range from Free (in Wellington) to $8 in Auckland (due to the size of the party). The other venues will have a cover charge of just $5. Copies of the CD will be available at each event for a special price of $15. Copies are also available at most record shops from the first week of June. |
