Fanatica (Ryuichiro Iijima) was born in Tokyo. Unlike most Japanese kids, he was brought up on 60's and 70's Western music. His mother, an ex-traditional Japanese performing artist (Nihon Buyo), brought him up around a wide variety of music. Ryuichiro moved to Hong Kong when he was eighteen. For studying triathlon coaching and recreation management, he moved to another destination, New Zealand.
Fanatica started his production career with just a small sequencer and sampler.After a 'break-through' with his computer based production system and strong support from other producers, his songs started appearing on the playlist of Christchurch's own campus station, RDU 98.5FM, where 'Scent Of Love' became a firm playlist favourite.
Fanatica's main ambition is to promote his tunes overseas so that he can ' spread one of my addictions, music, to as many people as possible, so they can feel it and get squashed by that nasty bass'.
