Lotus originates from Christchurch, she began going to dance parties around 1995 (Entrain New Years 94/95) and got inspired to be involved with electronic music. She began DJ'ing shortly after and played many a great party and festival including the Castle Hill raves and The Gatherings.
In 1999 Lotus collaborated as a Vocalist with then Christchurch based artist The Nomad and featured on the track 'Where Are You' from 'Second Selection'. It was an instant underground hit which was playlisted on the b-Net network, and recieved NZONAIR funding for a music video (which was directed by the talented Chris Graham - one of his earliest videos, an awesome vid featuring Lotus, The Nomad and some muddy Gathering footage circa the turn of the millenium).
Since then she has been busy collaborating and recording with many artists and appearing on some of NZ's most successful underground albums, such as Rhombus Bass Player and Rhian Sheehan Paradigm Shift, and more recently recording her debut album due for release in 2004.
Keep an eye and an ear out for her latest work, certainly her best, featuring a diversity of styles including some of the freshest electronica sounds around.
