Ssshole

SouthSideSoul was started in May 2001 by and Nicki Groves - we suck at DJing and realised we were unlikely to ever be invited to play anyone else's parties... However lots of other people don't suck and so SSS was born.

The original brief was to provide a residency for our fave Auckland DJ Dean Webb, a lush environment for all the brilliant ex-pat talent residing in London and an alternative for the hundreds of Kiwis who wanted an escape from the hard house/trance antipodean nights so prolific over here...

Anyway, a year on and it's become a regular call for ex-pats and locals alike, with a music policy embracing everything from dub to techno. We've played host to London locals like Asad Rizvi, Joe Shanks and Tom Gillieron, ex-pat kids like Nathan Haines, Simon Flower/Peakshift, Marek Roots Foundation, Flic, Issac Gizmo, Andee and Tubbs and visiting Kiwis like Manuel Bundy, Clinton Smiley, Mu, Soane, Greg Churchill, Timmy Schumacher...

We've also kicked off a night on the first Tuesday of every month at Notting Hill Arts Club - Soul Circuit, featuring guests like Rob Mello (Classic Recordings), Nathan Haines and Robert Barrett (Music Is... Records)... Check www.southsidesoul.com for details.

In a nutshell, the driving force behind SSS is to provide an unpretentious, laidback atmosphere (chill out on the sofas or take the roof off on the dancefloor) and most importantly, quality music. And we love hearing from Kiwis who're heading over so get in touch at southsidesoul@hotmail.com.
