The Hazards of Hardware

How hard could it be?

Our anticipation of Hardware had us prepared for severe phsical stresses, heavy vibrations and forces of rapid acceleration bringing about strains that could cause ones liver to shift position 6 inches.

We set out to Bassment 45 with two questions on our minds...

Our hypothesis was thus...

We could rave so hard the crack of dawn had better watch out, and as long as a beam of light pulsing into the night

So upon arrival we shed our protective clothing and mooched unto the gathered crowd.

Sure 'nuff our introduction to the impacting beats was enthusiastic Bang Bang but we were just getting started...

The programme had barely progressed past 2am when we were interrupted by noise control

<>City works noise control: May we cut in? Hardware: No, this rave is occupied territory WCNC: Well, we're shutting you down. DOWN!

So its before 2 and the beats have ceased. Its raining as a clutch of dejected ravers whoosh their way home, unsaited.

It seemed so unfair, a travesty of justice. Would Noise Control have gotten away so easily if they hadn't used the heat as backup?

We were an angry upset but peaceful tribe. The police were insistant at pointing out that it wasn't them..."Its not us"

The friendly face of the constable is important from a public relations p.o.v but methinks it seemed like a self supporting partnership, where all parties involved, especially the thugs in council clithing relied on and were intimidating because of the police presence.

This smacks of the Criminal Justice Bill!

Does this mean our music appreciation will be constricted by ideals from the mother country?

I say ditch colonialist ideals. We don't want 'em. Now picture this, saddened soft drink consumers have had their effervesance quashed. all there's left to to id scuff home to pine for juicy jungle and persistant techno.

Some look for outlets for their anger. I hear the blender warming up

Alan mumbles "Quit yer nancy boy moaning yer record chewing...

ALAN PUT THE CAT DOWN

Our commiserations go to the djs who had to stand by and watch a crucial piece of big box equipment be confiscated by noise control, subsequently paying a hefty fee to get it back. Wouldn't a cable have been enough?

so we see the horizon. A pale blue stripe and in retrospect we agree it was slammin' up till then and though we suffered limitations, we can only intend to go onward to then next rave uninterrupted and go further

Bang Bang and Valantina
