Tradition is not really our most acceptable pastime, so occasionally we flounder when thinking of things to do. Hence we come up with now famous and often-unique blends other people pavlovas. Or more interestingly we develop new versions of pastimes with completely innocent yet modern adaptation that make them suitably 'us'.
That said .. sound and the live broadcast of good music is deep in richness and sweetly becoming Aotearoa's strongest social tradition.
It is charming to read about the objectives of the 'One Love' concert in Wellington as being about the recognition of all peoples of this land. It is a chance to sit fondly together with out political agenda and 'just enjoy the tunes'.
Further back, the dreams of the Gathering, now in the light of history become a proud legacy for all New Zealanders who dance. Be nice Humans, Unity through Diversity and no glass, no dogs, no fires.
Sounds Systems are our love for the future generation. They are self made traditions that will carry our stories, share our joys and express our sorrow in all our own noise.
